AJ Avansino
Tennis & Pickleball Pro
An avid tennis player for over a decade, AJ was the Northern Nevada 5A High School Doubles Player of the Year 2020-2021, and the Reno High School Head Tennis Coach in 2022. He sharpened his skills by attending the Evert Tennis Academy in Boca Raton, Florida in 2021. You might see AJ on the court as he currently plays in the USTA league while attending the men’s tennis team at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. AJ is a USPTA teaching professional.

Rob Lizares
Tennis & Pickleball Pro – League Coordinator
Rob Lizares is a USPTA Certified Tennis Teaching Professional with over 25 years of experience. Rob works with players of all ages and takes pride in delivering great experiences in every session. He finds helping his clients reach their goals and watching their tennis skills develop over time incredibly rewarding.
Nevada has been Rob’s home for over 30 years. He enjoys spending time with his family outdoors. He has a passion for mountain biking, running, fitness and nutrition.
Specialty: Beginners to High Intermediate Level.
William (Bill) Conway
Tennis & Pickleball Pro
Bill Conway epitomizes honesty, integrity, and strength in both his personal and professional life. With extensive experience and a genuine passion for tennis, he has gained respect as a coach and mentor. For over a decade, he served as the Director of Operations at the Steamboat Tennis and Pickleball Center in Colorado, earning certifications from USTA Safe Play, USPTA, and PTR, and becoming known for inspiring players of all ages.
Now in Reno, NV, Bill and his wife Loretta have started Rare Air Sierra Sports, LLC (RASS), offering personalized coaching in tennis and pickleball, and consultation services for program development and funding. Bill also contributes significantly to the local tennis community as the High School Boys’ Tennis Coach at Reed High School and the Tennis Director for the Sierra Junior Tennis Association.
Bill’s motivation comes from helping those eager to improve and witnessing their growth and confidence on and off the court, which he finds deeply rewarding.

John Mathews
Tennis Pro
John Mathews is a USPTA certified tennis pro with over 20 years of teaching experience. His enthusiasm for the game is as strong as ever as he finds himself continually learning more about the various aspects of the game. John is passionate about connecting with his students through various teaching techniques. His dedication to making progress is a standard that he brings to the court as he strives to get each student to the next level.
Specialty: Beginners/Advanced Beginners & Youth Players.
Ruben Santana
Tennis Pro
Ruben’s interest in tennis started at an early age in Guadalajara, Mexico as he and his 6 siblings watched tennis every Sunday. Coming from humble beginnings, Ruben got his first opportunity to play tennis in high school when he came to the states in 1988. Ruben has gone on to play for numerous club teams and has competed in tournaments. In 2008, Ruben began volunteering his time assisting tennis teams in the local area. As the Reno High School boy’s tennis coach in 2021, the team made it to the State Championships and captured an Individual Championship. Ruben currently teaches tennis at the Reno Tennis Center and is in the process of getting his USPTA certification.

Chris Ferguson-McIntyre
Tennis & Pickleball Pro
Born and raised in Reno, Chris began playing tennis when he was 3 years old with his father Carlo. As a junior, Chris competed in USTA Northern California tournaments and won the team state championship for Galena High School in 2001. Chris went on to play division I tennis for the University of Nevada and continues to compete in tournaments today.

Randy Reynolds
Racquet Sports Director
Randy is a former NCAA D1 college player, USPTA elite tennis pro with over two decades of coaching experience, and college graduate obtaining an MBA from UNR. As owner of Tennis Nation Racquet Sports, Randy focuses on training coaches, programing, marketing, and streamlining operations. His goal is to provide racquet sports opportunities and exceptional experiences for everyone in the Reno community.
